„METAMORPHOSIS"

A TITLE THAT EMBODIES TRANSFORMATION.

The transformation young patients undergo through their illness but also mixed up with the common change youth and growing up brings.

A journey filled with challenges and difficulties, yet also moments of joy and lightheartedness building a bridge between the realities of young cancer patients and their peers.

It’s also about the transformation clothing can provide—the captivating process of adorning the body with a new layer, sometimes escaping weaknesses, fears, or worries in the process.

At the heart of this project lies the narrative and community building power of clothing and fashion.

Together with those affected and the Swiss Cancer League, this initiative offers a unique approach to their personal cancer stories—focusing not on the illness, but on the most important thing, the individuals themselves and their identities & passions.

Through the language of fashion, photography, styling, and makeup, we aim to foster understanding and provide insight into the profound journeys young cancer patients experience.

This project was created as part of the bachelor’s thesis by Luca Bass, a design student at the Zurich University of the Arts, specializing in Cast/Audiovisual Media.
